Moving Right Along
I know I’ve been a little quiet since the flurry of January shows that took me to 6 different states, through 12 different snowdrifts.
Since I’ve been home I’ve been busy working in my little workshop. Last week we mastered the new EP, Passing Knowledge, with Joe Lambert in Brooklyn. Done! For those of you on my mailing list, you’ll receive a free song shortly. For those who aren’t, subscribe using the form to the right, and get an advance copy of the title track!
This week, over at the End Up Records headquarters, we finished designing the amazingly cool artwork (a 20-page pocket poetry booklet with an introduction by the award-winning writer Will Heinrich). It’s been a wonderful winter to whittle away at things and get ready for the Record Release (soon!) and the spring shows (East Coast! Europe!).

The Fall Crush
Thanks to everyone for making my NYC Homecoming Show and the CMJ Show a lot of fun. I’ve been going non-stop since the European Tour, but now I’ll be under the radar for a while as I finish my new EP. I’ll post photos and mp3s and videos as they come in so be sure to sign up for my newsletter! This is the best record I’ve ever made and I can’t wait for you all to hear it. I’m very grateful to Lauren Balthrop, Colette Alexander, Misha Volf, Jason Lawrence, and Giovanni Palacios for playing on it, to Misha Volf for producing, Dave Schiffman for mixing, and Adrian Grenier for use of his studio.
In the meantime, be sure to catch me under my many aliases - as Dory Honey of The Honey Brothers (at all our shows this season, including Music Hall of Williamsburg), as Cotton Tyler Guin of Balthrop, Alabama (at Lincoln Center), and as Val of The Rozz & Val Show (at World Cafe Live). Fun!

I’m so grateful for the reviews my LP, THE WHEEL has been garnering the past several months from across the states, but also now dreamy, faraway places as The Wheel hits Europe: The UK Italy, Germany, Holland, Turkey! I have the pleasure of working with Here We Go Agency prepping for European Tour this fall. Read the reviews HERE. *Gift Idea: buy the album!
TOP TEN & BEST OF 2009 “7/8/9” EP made the Top 10 of 2009 and my Cover of “Toxic” selected Best Covers of 2009 by Snob’s Music. A pleasant surprise for the live EP I recorded one night this summer in a Brooklyn’s Saltlands studio. Thanks to Dawn Landes!
NEW VIDEOS on my YouTube Channel. Filmmaker Jason Banker, shot my big band for my tour’s homecoming show in NYC. We’ve posted videos so those who couldn’t make a show can enjoy from around-the-world. The currently featured video is the unreleased song “She Did”.
PANDORA will be adding my music to their Music Genome Project! Their musicologists should be posting it in the coming months.
THE HONEY BROTHERS RECORD WITH MALCOLM BURN. I’ve been working hard and playing hard with my brothers in Kingston, NY with the producer Malcolm Burn - it’s been fantastic - I feel SO lucky to get the opportunity to work with him - and them. Look for some East Coast Dates this winter, with a dash of The Gulf Coast (New Orleans!) and Tinsel Town. Also visit the new Honey Brothers youtube channel - videos posted from the Last Winter’s Inauguration tour!
